Tour in Veneto

Verona, Vicenza, Bassano del Grappa, Padua (2 days)
1st day: VERONA – VICENZA
Departure from the chosen location for Verona.
Arrival and guided tour of the city: the Arena of Verona, an ancient amphitheatre that dates back to the era of Emperor Augustus, is now famous throughout the world for the opera performances that take place there, the Basilica of San Zeno, a masterpiece of the Italian Romanesque architecture, characterized by the elegant tuff façade, the Castelvecchio, an imposing and articulated brick building dating back to 1354, Porta Dei Borsari, the main entrance to the Roman city, built in the mid-century. I, and the Ponte Pietra, the only Roman bridge left in the city, which is the first stone bridge built in Verona and the first large public marble work in the city. Free lunch.
In the afternoon guided tour of Vicenza, the city of Palladio, which allowed it to be included in the Unesco World Heritage. A trip to Vicenza offers unpredictable perspectives into art and history. The richness of the past in fact here always presents itself with new faces but basically combining three elements: the majesty of the Roman Empire, the Palladian Renaissance and the ‘naturalistic’ environment, with the precious outline of the Berici Hills and all those spaces of greenery that gently surround the city. Vicenza is a kind of stage where life marries art every day. Palladio has become the greatest architect of all time thanks to his evocative atmosphere: everything here speaks of him, from the basilica in Piazza Dei Signori, taken away in the Middle Ages so that it could become something unique, to the famous Teatro Olimpico, where the place is already the most exciting of the scenic representations, passing through the dozens of villas that revisit the very concept of living space.
Transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
2nd day: BASSANO DEL GRAPPA – PADUA

Its Ponte Vecchio or Ponte Degli Alpini, which is also its symbol, is located at the point where the Brenta is narrowest and has been rebuilt several times after the war. Free lunch and transfer to Padua. Padua, the city of the Saint and the provincial capital of the Veneto, is a very rich treasure chest full of treasures to be discovered. Art, culture, history and gastronomy, imposing squares, alleys and shops, nothing is really missing. The city is known for Giotto’s frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel, from 1303-05, and for the large 13th-century Basilica of Sant’Antonio. Abbeys of Veneto, Padua and Marostica (2 days)
1st day: ABBEY OF PRAGLIA – PADUA
Departure in the morning from the agreed location. In the morning, a guided tour of the Abbey of Praglia, founded in the years between the 11th and 12th centuries, remained a dependency of the Abbey of S. Benedetto in Polirone in Mantua until 1304. The visit of the Praglia Abbey is undoubtedly an unmissable experience that allows you to immerse yourself in the daily reality of the monastic community but also to appreciate the beauties of the ancient Benedictine monastery ranging from the Middle Ages, late Gothic and Renaissance.
During the tour in the abbey complex, visitors will be able to admire three of the four cloisters (hanging, botanical and rustic), the abbey church, the Fogazzaro loggia, the monumental refectory and the chapter room. Transfer to Padua for free lunch. In the afternoon guided tour of the city. In the historic centre of the city, there are streets with arcades and elegant cafes frequented by the students of the University of Padua, founded in 1222.
In the end, transfer to the nearby hotel. Dinner and overnight.
2nd day: ABBEY OF FOLLINA – BASSANO DEL GRAPPA AND MAROSTICA
Breakfast and transfer to the Cistercian Abbey of Santa Maria in Follina and guided tour. Erected on a previous Benedictine building in the twelfth century. revised in the Cistercian era, the current basilica has the typical Latin-plan construction with the facade facing west and the apse facing east just as the Cistercian symbolism required. Inside the basilica, the valuable works present are noteworthy: the large wooden altarpiece in neo-Gothic style built by Venetian workers in 1921, a perfect copy of the original ancona present in the church of S. Zaccaria in Venice. It houses the sandstone statue of the Madonna del Sacro Calice which has always been the object of veneration and pilgrimage by the people of Follino and thousands of faithful from all over Italy. Another work worth noting is the splendid cloister, older than the basilica and perfectly preserved in the elegant effect of movement created by the columns that make it up.
In the end, transfer to Bassano del Grappa for free lunch in the historic centre where you can admire the Ponte Vecchio or Ponte Degli Alpini, located at the point where the Brenta is narrowest and has been rebuilt several times after the war.
In the afternoon a guided tour of Marostica, with the walls that frame the profile of the Pausolino hill and the cypresses that peek out from the ruins of the Upper Castle, seems to have been created more by the bizarre inspiration of an artist than by the defensive needs of a military leader. It is an authentic medieval gem, set among the hills that descend from the Asiago plateau towards Vicenza. At the end of the return trip with expected arrival in the evening.

The Basilica of Santi Maria e Donato represents one of the best examples of the Venetian-Byzantine style: the external decorations of the apse and, inside, the floor mosaics with ornamental motifs that date back to the time of the construction of the basilica are interesting. In Burano, visitors are fascinated by its thousand colors and by the colored houses that are reflected in the green waters of the canals, by the crooked bell tower, by its tranquility and by the calm with which the elderly ladies embroider the original Burano lace with their bobbin lace while, among themselves, they laugh and chat in the squares.
