Merano and Bolzano (2 days)
1st day: BOLZANO – THUNIVERSUM
Departure in the morning from the chosen location.
Arrival in Bolzano to visit the Thun factory (entrance excluded). The famous brand born in the mountains of Trentino celebrates its success with a store dedicated to romantic souls: welcome to the Thumuniversum. The love for beauty makes one of the best-known companies in South Tyrol fly with the mind that seduces with the beautiful artistic ceramics signed Thun, a name that, for sixty years, has made the joy of entire generations enriching with a taste your home.
In the end, transfer to Bolzano for free lunch. In the afternoon guided tour of the historic centre of Bolzano: the Cathedral, dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta and built in the Gothic style, the Dominican Church, the Capuchin Convent, the ancient Parish Church of Gries. 2nd day: MERANO – TRAUTTMANSDORFF CASTLE
Breakfast. Departure for Merano to visit the Trauttmansdorff Castle and its gardens which extend over an area of 12 hectares, presenting over 80 botanical environments, with plants native to every corner of the world. Transfer to the historic centre of Merano to continue the visit to the city. Free lunch.
In the afternoon optional visit to the Castello Rametz Winery (entrance excluded). The historic Castello Rametz estate was mentioned as early as 1227 as a significant possession in the field of viticulture. The visit begins with a walk through the vineyards, followed by an explanation of the various works in the vineyards and the history of the castle. Then we will visit the Wine Museum consisting of four large rooms in which ancient and original tools used for viticulture are exhibited. At the end of the visit a small tasting. Trentino Gran Tour (4 days)
Day 1: VAL DI NON – LAKE OF SANTA GIUSTINA – CASTEL CLES
Departure from the agreed location for Trentino. Arrival at Lake Santa Giustina and guided tour. The lake is located in the center of the valley, near Cles. It was born with the construction of the imposing dam built between 1943 and 1951. The spectacle offered by the artificial basin is truly impressive and fits perfectly into the scenery of the valley. Its purpose is to collect the waters of the catchment area of the Noce stream to obtain electricity. The waters of the lake creep into the canyons creating picturesque scenery well known to canoe enthusiasts. Outdoor photo stop at Castel Cles from which you can admire the lake. Free lunch during the day. At the end transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: ORTISEI, SANTA CRISTINA VAL GARDENA, SELVA DI VAL GARDENA
Breakfast. Full day guided tour of Val Gardena represented by three countries, Selva Di Val Gardena, Ortisei and Santa Cristina. All three villages are rich in cultural and historical artifacts and Ortisei stands out for its worldliness with its pedestrian area, very nice shops and restaurants with high quality gastronomy. In the north-western part of the Dolomites of South Tyrol, Alta Val Gardena opens up, bordered to the east by the Sella group, at the edge of which the Gardena and Sella passes connect it respectively with Val Badia and Val di Fassa . In this valley, as in other nearby, Ladin survived, a language born from the fusion of the ancient Celtic language spoken by local populations, with Latin, brought by the Roman colonizers in the first century BC. The economy of the valley, once based on agricultural and fruit production and on bovine breeding, activities organized in the “masi”, the local farms, today finds its main resource in both summer and winter tourism and sculpture. Day 3: MERANO – BOLZANO
Breakfast. Departure for Merano to visit the Trauttsmansdorff Castle and its gardens which extend over an area of 12 hectares, presenting over 80 botanical environments, with plants native to every corner of the world. At the end of the visit, transfer to the historic center of Merano for a free visit of the city. Free lunch. Transfer to the historic center of Bolzano for the guided tour. The city clearly reflects the place of meeting and exchange between different cultures. In art, for example, Giotto’s paintings and works of the Gothic school coexist, while in architecture the singular contrast between the historic city and the new one, divided by the Talvera stream, immediately catches the eye. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: TRENTO – BUONCONSIGLIO CASTLE.
Breakfast. Transfer to Trento to visit the Buonconsiglio Castle, the largest and most important monumental complex in the Trentino-Alto Adige region. From the thirteenth century to the end of the eighteenth century, the residence of the bishops of Trento, is made up of a series of buildings from different periods, enclosed within a wall in a slightly elevated position with respect to the city. Breakfast. Transfer to Casez di Sanzeno for free participation in Pomaria, or the Apple Festival in Val di Non. Pomaria is the great harvest festival, a great event that sees the Val di Non and Val di Sole as protagonists, the Wine Roads and the flavours of Trentino, freshly picked apples, local traditions and flavours. The discovery of places witnessing history and culture, the colours and scents of autumn, art and popular knowledge with music, games and fairy tales to have fun even with the little ones. The event celebrates the apple in its thousand aspects, but not only: traditions and other local flavours are also rediscovered and enhanced. A party immersed in the warm colours of autumn in which visitors can get to know the entire Val di Non.
The Val di Non becomes the undisputed kingdom of the apple: it is possible to pick apples directly from the tree, learn how to cook strudel, learn about and taste the different varieties of apples and their greedy derivatives, play and have fun in educational workshops and courses. tasting. Dolomiti Gran Tour (3 days)
1st day: LAKE CAREZZA:
Early morning departure from the agreed location. Free lunch along the way.
Meeting with the local guide and continuation to Lake Carezza and stop to admire the spectacle of the very blue waters that reflect the scenery of the jagged ridges of the Latemar. The small lake, fed by underground springs, is famous for the wonderful colours of its waters and for this reason in the Ladin language it is called “Rainbow Lake”. Continue to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
2nd day: PORDOI – FALZAREGO – LAKE MISURINA – CORTINA:
After breakfast at the hotel, departure with the guide to the Pordoi Pass, an alpine pass in the Dolomites located between the Sella and Marmolada groups. From Pordoi you can admire one of the most fascinating and exciting views of the Dolomites: in front of the Sella group, on the right, the Piz Boé, on the left the Sassolungo and to the south-east the imposing Marmolada glacier. Continue to the Falzarego pass and arrive at Lake Misurina, the largest natural lake in Cadore in whose waters reflect the beautiful Tre Cime di Lavaredo, considered one of the best known natural wonders in the mountaineering world. Free lunch. Continue on to Cortina d’Ampezzo, the most famous worldly tourist centre in the Dolomites and free time for a little shopping. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
3rd day: PASSO ROLLE – SAN MARTINO DI CASTROZZA:
After breakfast at the hotel, departure for the guided hike to Passo Rolle, through the Paneveggio natural park, where flora and fauna coexist in a protected natural environment. Stop at Passo Rolle to admire the spectacle of the Pale di San Martino, which rise up to 3185 meters, one of the nine mountain groups registered in the list of cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. Continue to San Martino di Castrozza, a famous tourist resort that owes its origin to an ancient religious institution: the Hospice of Saints Martino and Giuliano, which housed travellers who crossed the Rolle Pass.
