During the various historical events that led to numerous bloody battles, resistances and conquests on Elba, the imposing Fort of Longone, built by the Spaniards in the previous century, was first occupied in 1646 by the French troops and, later, was reconquered by the same Spanish. The urban agglomeration resided in the area below the Spanish fortress, called the “marina”, excellent as a freight yard and as a refuge for ships. Lunch at the hotel. Continue with the visit of the wonderful landscape beauties of Procchio, Isolotto Della Paolina, Marciana Marina. Visiting Marciana you can breathe an “old-fashioned” lifestyle: the slow and relaxed rhythms, free of any stress, totally in tune with nature, have contributed to the achievement, for the inhabitants of Marciana, of the longevity record of the whole island.
